Lillestrøm SK has proposed to abolish VAR in Norwegian football. The proposal was presented during Monday's district meeting, where the clubs were to vote on whether to support LSK in their proposal for a resolution to the NFF Akershus. LSK presented its proposal that the district should support their desire to abolish VAR as soon as possible. Chairman Morten Kokkim, who signed the proposal from LSK, was not present at the meeting due to illness. Karl Martin Dolvik spoke on behalf of LSK. Football president Lise Klaveness was also present at the meeting and stated that VAR is the best for the development of Norwegian football. However, the grassroots clubs disagreed with LSK and voted down the proposal. 34 delegates voted for a written vote, while 20 voted for and 30 voted against LSK's proposal. Christian Moen, referee and part of Løvenstad Football Club, believed that VAR must be further developed. He says that he, among other things, experiences less filming, and believes that this will also trickle down to grassroots football. LSK expressed opposition to a written vote, but there was still a vote among the 53 delegates. Three voted blank, 20 voted for and 30 voted against LSK's proposal. Thus, the proposal fell. Lillestrøm SK has been against VAR from the start, which was introduced in 2021. NFF Akershus, which LSK belongs to, is on the other side for further development of VAR. LSK has always been clear that they want to abolish VAR, and it was therefore not surprising that they presented a proposal to do so. But the grassroots clubs did not agree with LSK, and the proposal was voted down. This shows that there is great disagreement about VAR in Norwegian football, and it will be interesting to see what happens in the future. Lillestrøm SK will continue to work to abolish VAR, but it looks like it will be a tough fight. The grassroots clubs have already stated that they want to further develop VAR, and it will be difficult for LSK to get their proposal through. But LSK does not give up, and they will continue to fight to abolish VAR.
