Lillestrøm SK suffered a clear 3-0 away defeat to Viking in the Eliteserien on Sunday. The loss marks a setback after three wins in their last five matches, a recent run of form reading LWLWW.
The match turned early as Kristoffer Haugen put the home side 1-0 up in just the eighth minute following a pass from Zlatko Tripić. Lillestrøm responded with pressure and created some half-chances, but the defence faltered when Gianni Stensness doubled the lead just before half-time. In the second half, H. Ødegaard's team tried to turn the game around, but Viking held firm and were awarded a penalty which Peter Christiansen converted for 3-0 in the 79th minute.
The statistics paint a picture of a match where Lillestrøm had 15 shots to Viking's 23, but the hosts registered more shots on target. Felix Vá received Lillestrøm's only yellow card for a late challenge. See the full match setup and player statistics on our stats page.
Following this defeat, Lillestrøm must shake off the loss before their next assignment, an away fixture against Bærum on October 1st. Ahead of that match, the squad is without Camil Jebara, Espen Bjørnsen Garnås and Karl Linus Alperud due to injuries, affecting the team's depth.
